Mercedes/Dodge Sprinter Vans

The Sprinter vans, built by Mercedes Benz, first became popular in Canada after Dodge started marketing them in 2003. This marketing agreement lasted 6 years and they have now been dropped by Dodge and were only supported by Chrysler/Dodge until the end of 2010. From that point on, service and parts fell back to Mercedes dealers and this will leave many orphaned Sprinter vans with nowhere convenient to call home for service.

Precision Auto Service saw this situation coming in late 2008 and took on the challenge of a new line, namely Mercedes Benz Sprinter Vans. Now don’t ask us to fix your ML320 or Kompresor sports car, we won’t go there, we are only interested in Diesel powered engines and the Sprinter Vans that house them.

We have spent the last four years tooling up with training, technology and information in order to be the Fraser Valleys Sprinter authority. If your Sprinter has been left homeless by the Dodge-Mercedes breakup, welcome it to its new home, Precision Auto Service.

Mercedes Diesel ML/GL Bluetec

Mercedes diesel ML GL SUV Repair Service. The Mercedes Benz, ML and GL SUV’s first became popular in Canada when introduced in 1997 and 2006 respectively. They are available from 2012 onward with the diesel CDI BlueTec engine in the ML320, ML350, and GL350.

Precision Auto Service has been specializing in Mercedes Benz Sprinter Vans since about 2007, and the other Mercedes diesels are just a natural offshoot of this specialty.

Ford Powerstroke

Since its introduction in 1994 to the latest version in 2010, the Powerstroke built by Navistar / International Harvester has been a frontrunner in technological firsts for the light duty diesel market.

Throttle by wire, HEUI injection and variable geometry turbo charging were some of the areas that Ford led the diesel revolution.

Beginning in 2011 Ford started production of the 6.7L Powerstoke in house and its proven pretty reliable.

At Precision Auto Service, we have always stayed on top of the latest technology and that endeavor continues with the purchase of the Ford IDS (Integrated Diagnostic System). The IDS is the Ford Factory diagnostic system and we are proud to be one of the few shops in all of Metro Vancouver who have invested in this technology.

In fact due to the technolgy being used in todays modern diesels, the use of the IDS is a requirement to properly diagnose and repair these engines. Many fixes for these engines require a software calibration update that requires a subscription to Fords database and the tooling (IDS) to perform the task. Whithout this level of technology, the repair shop is left guessing about what is wrong with your truck and whether it is fixed properly or not. Don’t let amateurs play with your investment without the propper tooling. Ask if they have invested in the IDS!

GMC Duramax

The Chevrolet/GMC Duramax engine, designed by Isuzu has proven to be a powerful and reliable engine and the trucks have proven to be quite popular. The Duramax was the first light truck diesel engine to be produced with aluminum cylinder heads and also used a variable geometry turbocharger along with Bosch piezzo electronic fuel injection.

Since its introduction, the injector design has been updated a few times and has now proven to be a very good design. In fact first Dodge and now Ford have adopted this fuel injection system.

As a AC Delco TSS shop we have had acess to GM dealer level training on the Duramax engine, the GM Tech2 diagnostic scanner and continue to invest in both training and technology to keep us at the leading edge of Duramax knowledge.

Dodge Cummins

The Cummins diesel engine is legendary for its durability and performance and since Dodge introduced it in 1989 it has been responsible for for the diesel revolution in light duty trucks. Although it has been modernized many times over the years, it has stayed true to its heritage as a tried and true powerhouse.

Dodge was the first to offer a turbocharged, intercooled heavy duty diesel in a light duty truck and the others scrambled to follow. As a leader, they did a good job picking an engine that would lead the way for several years.

The 12 valve, 24 valve and newly introduced 6.7 Liter all have unique characteristics that Precision Auto Service has the experience and technology to handle all their service needs. As a Bosch Diesel Service Center, we have access to training and information on this engines fuel system, right from the company who built it.

Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD

Although it’s been around for ages, the all-new WK Grand Cherokee debuted in the 2005 model year. A Mercedes Benz OM642 3.0 V6 Common Rail Diesel (CRD) became available in Canada in 2007 but available outside of North America from launch.

The design still emphasizes power and luxury, with significant work done on improving noise, vibration, and harshness. However, for the first time, Jeep also emphasized on-road performance to a similar extent as the cornerstone of its brand, off-road capability.

This new Jeep changed its philosophy due to what it perceived as increasing demand in the SUV marketplace for on-road performance and decreasing demand for off-road capability. Although classed as a truck-based SUV, the Grand Cherokee has more luxuries than a “crossover” especially refinement and capability.

The OM642 Mercedes diesel is a specialty of ours and we are trained and equipped to handle anything it needs.

Ford Transit Cargo Van

The Ford Transit is a family of light commercial vehicles manufactured by the Ford Motor Company and sold in Canada since 2013, primarily as a cargo van, but also available in other configurations including a large passenger van RV Chassis, and cutaway Cube van chassis,

Dodge Ram Promaster Van

Since 2013, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’s Ram Trucks brand has marketed the Ducato as the Ram ProMaster in Canada and the United States. The ProMaster is produced in the Stelantis Saltillo, Mexico, plant.

Traditional commercial vans in this market are heavy body-on-frame based on pickup trucks. The ProMaster has a unibody construction and front-wheel drive. This gives it a lower floor height, which improves cargo loading. Front-wheel drive also improves handling and safety.[18]
